This is the gym of my choice. I love the pool and the workout room looks nice but haven't made it there yet. For now, I will continue my workouts in the pool. Thank you YMCA Eastside!πŸ˜€

In regards to the daycare program. If your child has a disability, special needs, autistic, or an IEP plan don’t even bother. When I called back in January/ February to see if there were any openings they were excited to tell me that they are actually opening another 3 year old classroom so there will be plenty of openings. I proceeded to tell them that he does have an IEP plan and their attitude ( I believe her name was Rachel) changed. She asked me to send it over and not even 5 minutes later called back to tell me they can’t accept him. When I asked why they said because he will β€œthrow himself on the floor” they have a hands off policy therefore they are not allowed to pick up or touch the children at all. Well I read their policy which is posted on their website and it clearly states they would allow children with an IEP a trial period to see if they can accommodate their needs not just immediately deny them. I am posting now because as I am sitting in the gym parking lot I watched the daycare class come outside and one of the kids runs up to one of the teachers and she immediately picks him up gives him a snuggle and sits with him on her lap on the bench rocking back and for

This is my gym and has been for over 15 years. Years ago, I got in trouble for not staying on the track with my son when he was 6 to 8 years old.... he could run circles around me, so there was no way I could run with him. He went on to win 5K races, but we mostly trained eksewhere. Now kids run free everywhere. I believe they let 8 and 9 year-olds use the gym equipment. It used to be age 11 and up. Overall the equipment is nice and when broken, is usually fixed within a week or two. The youth sports program is great and a good introduction to sports. My kids played flag football, soccer, basketball, floor hockey, t-ball and had swimming lessons here. The pool is really nice... especially for kids and one of my sons loved the racquetball courts. My only complaint (other than kids running around) is that the bathroom stalls in the locker room are often wet from swimmers. There's one small bathroom downstairs but I wish there was another.

I've made many new friends since I started taking classes at the Y. Classes are fun and the staff is very friendly. I've enjoyed many activities sponsored by the Y such as Sea Wolves games, Scallywags pirate adventure, senior day at the Erie Zoo, and Camp Sherwin to name a few.
